National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) · Preparation basis as of 2026-10-18: NBCC Content Outline revised October 8, 2025, with the blueprint finalized in 2021; State Licensure Candidate Handbook revised November 20, 2025. LPCC is a state licensure title rather than a separate national examination name. California's Board of Behavioral Sciences explicitly identifies the NCMHCE as its LPCC clinical examination; this evidenced mapping supports retaining the assigned workbook slug. California's separate Law and Ethics examination is outside this guide. NBCC's replacement specifications take effect July 1, 2027 and are not the basis of these materials.
